Northeastern Aegean Islands

A short distance away from the Asia Minor coast, in the northern and northeastern part of the Aegean Sea, five large islands (Ikaria, Samos, Lemnos, Lesbos, and Chios) and four smaller ones (Agios Efstratios, Fourni, Psara, and Oinousses) offer their visitors one-of-a-kind vacations.  Despite the long distance that separates the islands from the country’s large urban centers, in recent decades, coastline transport in ultra-modern ferries and a network of air travel connections have turned the islands into preferred tourism destinations.  Verdant vistas, beach fronts of crystal-clear and pristine sea waters, traditional housing settlements, and a rich historic course displayed in the islands’ museums await to be discovered by visitors.
